The number of farms in Walker County has grown from 528 in 2018 to 624 last year, placing the county seventh in the state of Georgia.
There are 90,761 acres of farmland in our community with our top commodities being poultry ($63.2 million farm gate value), livestock ($13.5 million) and row & forage crops ($9.2 million).
Some of the other agricultural products produced in Walker County include turfgrass, horses, Christmas trees, blueberries, apples, wine grapes, vegetables, goats, sheep, honeybees, rye, peaches and agritourism.
The majority of farms in the county are between 10 to 49 acres in size. Roughly 11% of farms in Walker County generate over $100,000 in sales.
