Members of Naomi Baptist Church gathered at the Walker County Courthouse earlier today to take part in a statewide Bible reading held simultaneously in communities across Georgia.
The event was part of a coordinated effort in which participants from around the state publicly read scripture, with each location contributing to the reading of the entire Bible throughout the day.
Representing Naomi Baptist Church, those in attendance read from 2 Chronicles 7:14, a verse often associated with prayer, repentance and seeking God’s guidance. The passage states:
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
The group gathered on the courthouse grounds during the morning hours, joining thousands of others across Georgia participating in the annual event. Organizers say the statewide reading is intended to encourage prayer, unity and reflection while highlighting the importance of faith in communities across the state.
The Walker County gathering concluded later in the morning after members of Naomi Baptist Church completed their assigned scripture reading, helping contribute to the goal of reading the entire Bible across Georgia in a single coordinated effort.
