Walker County officials say crews are making steady progress on this year’s road resurfacing program, with just four roads remaining after work currently underway is completed.
According to Walker County Government, the county’s current paving contract includes more than 70 miles of roadway improvements. Contractors are now working in the Catlett area, resurfacing Huffman Road, Van Horn Road, County Line Road, and Chapman Road.
Once paving is finished on those roads, only four projects will remain on this year’s schedule: Old Chattanooga Valley Road, Delmont Howard Road, Walker Hollow Road, and Powder Springs Circle.
County officials also highlighted the long-term impact of the local transportation funding programs, noting that by the end of this year’s paving season, a total of 253.41 miles of roads will have been resurfaced since 2018.
Walker County credits the continued investment in road improvements to funding provided through the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) and the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), which have helped improve road conditions across the county over the past eight years.
Officials say the resurfacing projects are part of the county’s ongoing effort to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure for residents and visitors throughout Walker County.
