Students attending Walker County Schools will once again receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2026-2027 school year as the school district continues its participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) through the Walker County School Nutrition Department.
The program includes all 15 schools in the Walker County School District, allowing every student to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day, regardless of household income.
While the daily meals are provided at no cost, families should be aware that students will still be responsible for paying for any additional food items they choose to purchase. Those items may include extra milk, an additional entrée, cookies, or other à la carte products.
Families will not be required to complete an application for free or reduced-price meals to receive the benefit. Instead, the school system will ask families to complete a survey in place of the traditional application.
School officials are encouraging parents and guardians to complete and return the survey by September 17, 2026. The information collected helps support school funding and ensures the district can continue participating in programs that benefit students.
