The World’s Longest Yard Sale Returns August 6–9, Bringing Thousands of Vendors Through North Georgia
Bargain hunters, antique collectors, and road trip enthusiasts are getting ready for one of the nation’s most unique shopping events as the 127 Yard Sale, better known as the World’s Longest Yard Sale, returns Thursday, August 6 through Sunday, August 9, 2026.
Now celebrating its 40th consecutive year, the annual event has been held every year since 1987 and always takes place on the first Thursday through Sunday in August, rain or shine.
The sale stretches approximately 690 miles, beginning in Addison, Michigan, and ending in Gadsden, Alabama. Along the way, the route passes through six states — Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama — attracting thousands of shoppers in search of antiques, collectibles, handmade crafts, vintage finds, and one-of-a-kind bargains.
While the event is known as the “127 Yard Sale,” travelers through North Georgia should note that the route no longer follows Highway 127 once it reaches Chattanooga, Tennessee. Instead, it continues south along the scenic Lookout Mountain Parkway through North Georgia before crossing into Alabama. Organizers recommend using printed turn-by-turn directions for the Georgia and Alabama portion of the sale, as relying solely on GPS can be confusing due to the changing road names.
More than 10,000 vendors are expected to participate this year, with more than 35 designated Major Vendor Stops featuring 25 or more vendors in a single location. New for 2026, the Mountain Arts Community Center in Signal Mountain, Tennessee, has been added as the newest Major Vendor Stop along the route.
Beyond the shopping, organizers say the event offers an opportunity for communities to come together and connect face-to-face while supporting local businesses, churches, civic groups, and families who set up roadside booths throughout the weekend.
The North Georgia stretch of the sale is especially popular thanks to the scenic beauty of the Lookout Mountain Parkway. The combination of mountain views and bargain hunting draws thousands of visitors each year and provides a significant economic boost for many small communities along the route.
Shoppers planning to attend are encouraged to prepare for the summer heat by bringing water, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes. Organizers also recommend carrying cash in small denominations, as many roadside vendors may not accept credit or debit cards. With nearly 700 miles of sales to explore, experienced attendees suggest choosing one section of the route rather than attempting to cover the entire event in a single trip.
