An early morning accident Tuesday killed a Rossville man. Just after 7am yesterday, a 2007 Toyota Corolla turned in front of a 2014 Lincoln MKS. The accident happened at State Route 2 and Happy Valley Road at Ridgeland High School. 46-year-old Curtis Williams of Rossville died from injuries in the crash. Four people were transported to Erlanger with serious injuries.
Early voting has started in Walker County. You can vote Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm. Polls will also be open Saturday October 21st and 28th from 9am to 5pm. You can vote at the Walker County Courthouse in LaFayette and also at the Chickamauga Civic Center. Beginning Saturday October 28th and Monday October 30th through Friday November 3rd, you can vote at GNTC on Rock Spring, The Rossville Municipal Civic Center and the Fairyland-Lookout Mountain City Hall. Early voting ends at all five locations on Friday November 3rd at 5pm. Election day is November 7th.
A Fort Oglethorpe police officer went to a hospital with injuries Tuesday morning after a driver struck his patrol car. Officers have since arrested the driver and identified him as James Cook. According to the police department, officers learned of a possible DUI suspect in a black SUV just before 5 a.m.
A Fort Oglethorpe officer then spotted that car on Larry Drive, near Cloud Springs Road. Officers say the car was stopped on the wrong side of the road. The officer stopped in the westbound turning lane of Cloud Springs Road to observe the suspect car. Police say the suspect drove forward and crashed into the driver’s side of the patrol car. The officer was taken to the hospital with injuries. Cooke has been arrested and booked into the Catoosa County jail. The Georgia State Patrol is now investigating.
