Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson announced today that citizens are receiving telephone calls where the caller identifies themselves as a Deputy Sheriff. The caller states that there is a warrant for the individual and proceeds to instruct the victim in how they can pay the warrant dismissed.  Sheriff Wilson says that the Walker County Sheriff’s Department will never call and ask for a payment over the phone.  Sheriff Wilson warned citizens to never give out personal information to telephone solicitors.  If you feel you have been a victim of this scam, please contact Walker County dispatch to report the crime at 706-375-7810.

Scare on the Square is happening tonight in Downtown LaFayette.  You’re invited to come on out for some trick or treating with downtown businesses.  Scare on the Square lasts from 5:30 until 7pm.  Keep in mind several downtown streets will be closed for the event.

The Walker County Dentition Center reported two felony arrests on Sunday.  28-year-old James Dylan Ross was arrested and charged with possession of meth, fleeing, attempting to elude and several other traffic violations.  22-year-old Dustin Dwight Mitchell faces aggravated assault, reckless driving and obstruction of law enforcement.

It’s Senior Night at Jack King Stadium and Jeff Suttle Field Friday night.  The LaFayette Ramblers will look to close out the regular season with a win over county rivals Ridgeland.  Kickoff Friday night is at 7:30pm – you can hear the game on Georgia 93-7.
