I-59 south of Trenton in Dade County is back open after a wildfire shut it down Tuesday. Dade County EMA says both I-59 and McKaig Road have re-opened. They say to use caution when traveling the area due to low visibility and the presence of emergency crews.
A Dade County man faces life in prison for the molestation of his relative. Judge Brian House sentenced 76-year-old Ronald Craig Neugard to prison on October 26. Neugard was convicted of six counts. Those include multiple counts of aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation and incest. The abuse took place over a period of three years, according to District Attorney Clayton Fuller.
Lake Lanier has hit it’s lowest water level in six years because of drought conditions. The water level is down about 7 feet.
The number of students rose at Georgia’s public universities and colleges this fall after a two-year dip, with all but three of the system’s 26 schools adding students. Enrollment rose 2.9% statewide from fall 2022. That increase of nearly 10,000 students set a new record of more than 344,000 students statewide, surpassing the previous high of 341,000 in fall 2020.
