The Walker County Community Emergency Response Team is looking for new volunteers.  The team helps the community during the threat of severe weather.  They will hold an informational meeting on Thursday November 30th.  The meeting will start at 6:30 at the Armuchee Valley Community Center in Villanow.  If you want more information contact Nadine Gilliland at 423-764-6092.

Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson announced today that Georgia’s October unemployment rate was 3.4 percent, unchanged from a revised 3.4 percent in September. The unemployment rate was five-tenths lower than the national unemployment rate. Job numbers were at an all-time high in Private Education and Health Services and Leisure and Hospitality.

The latest drought report says that Walker County remains in an extreme drought.  Rainfall in October was nearly three inches below normal.  Forecasters expect the drought conditions to remain over the next three months but should improve slightly.

You will soon be able to fly direct from Chattanooga to Las Vegas. Allegiant Airline announced yesterday the direct flights to Las Vegas would begin on May 26th.  Allegiant also added a direct flight to Orlando Florida as well.
