Walker County Government offices will be closed around the holiday. Walker County Government offices will be closed beginning today through Tuesday December 26th. The county landfill will be closed tomorrow through Monday. It will reopen with regular business hours on Tuesday. Both the landfill and the county offices will be closed on New Years Day as well.
The Walker County Sheriff’s Department says that scammers are targeting Walker County residents. According to police someone is calling Walker County citizens and claiming to be a police office. They are advising citizens that they have outstanding warrants or citations and they can be resolved with a payment from a Green Dot Card or something similar. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office says that no one will ever contact you by phone asking for a payment to resolve a warrant or a citation.
Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson announced yesterday that Georgia’s November unemployment rate was 3.4%. That’s unchanged from October. The states unemployment rate remains three-tenths lower than the national average.
