Two people are dead after a Christmas Eve shooting in Summerville. According to police, John Wayne Siffles – a 44-year-old male killed 50 year old Sherrie Leigh Little at her home on 4th street in Summerville. Little’s body was found off the roadway on Johnson Cemetary Road. Siffles was identified as a suspect in the case. Police located Siffles and he refused to surrender even after police used spray and taser. Siffles had a knife and intended to assault law enforcement when he was shot by an officer. Siffles was later pronounced dead at a Floyd County hospital. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the case. The Summerville Police Department, Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, The Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force and the GBI all assisted in the investigation.
Lots of folks living on the south end of LaFayette were in the dark for part of Christmas Day. A tree fell across a power line and caused a power outage. Crews worked quickly to get power restored.
Just another reminder about trash pick up. There will be no trash pick up today. If Tuesday is your normal trash day, it will be picked up on Thursday. Monday’s trash will be picked up tomorrow. Wednesday and Thursday’s trash service will not be affected.
A fire destroyed a Rossville home on Friday. The blaze began just after 2pm. The home was located on Kelsey Drive. Crews from Walker and Catoosa counties battled the fire. No one was injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
