As we head into this New Year’s weekend, please remember to be safe on the roadways and celebrate responsibly this New Year’s Eve.  All LaFayette City Offices will be closed on Monday, New Year’s Day.  Mondays trash route will run on Tuesday.
The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in catching a theif.  Sometime between November 27th and December 27th someone broke into several storage units on Highway 27 in Rock Spring.  A ring was stolen out of one of the units.  If you have any information about the burglary please contact the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.
Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said yesterday that unemployment was down state wide in November.  In Northwest Georgia the unemployment rate was down four-tenths of a point to 2.9%.  The rate last year was 2.8%.  The number of employed people was up to 426, 113.  That’s an all-time high for our area of the state.  Dalton’s unemployment rate was 3.4% last month.  That’s down six-tenths of a point from October.
