The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place after a football game Friday night. According to Sheriff Steve Wilson, two people got into an argument at the Ridgeland football game. Both left school property and ended up across the street on Tranquility Drive. At around 10pm Friday night, shots were fired . No one was hurt but an unrelated vehicle was shot up. The Sheriff says the shots came from a moving vehicle. Three bullets hit one of the vehicles that had nothing to do with the people arguing. Authorities have interviewed the target of the shooting. The cause of the argument and the people involved have not been released. The investigation is continuing.

A 24-year-old cold case in Walker County has been closed. At a press conference on Friday afternoon authorities announced that the US Marshalls in Jefferson County Alabama had arrested a man for the June 2000 murder of Julie Ann McDonald. 61-year-old Clearance D. George is being held in the Jefferson County jail awaiting extradition to Walker County. George faces charges of murder and aggravated assault. On June 11th Julie Ann McDonald was found dead in her LaFayette home. She had died from multiple stab wounds. Authorities say that George knew McDonald. He was found passing checks that had been stolen from her home but at the time the police could not connect him to the murder. The breakthrough on the case seems to have come from GBI Crime Lab. Police have not said what the motive was behind the killing.

Gas prices have fallen again after the Labor Day weekend. Walker, Catoosa and Dade counties continue to have the cheapest gas in the state according to AAA. Locally a gas of regular unleaded gas will costs you $2.96. Statewide gas is now at $3.14 a gallon. Nationwide gas prices are around $3.33.
