The Walker County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a burglary suspect. The incident happened Monday between noon and 1pm. The suspect pulled up to a residence on South Highway 27 in LaFayette and went inside and took several items. The suspect appears to be a white male with a tattoo on the left side of his neck. He was driving a two-door coupe. If you have any information about the theft, please call the Walker County Sheriff’s Department.
A new volunteer fire department is on its way in Walker county. County Commissioners have approved the area of operation for the McLemore Volunteer Fire Department. Walker County Fire Chief Blake Hodge introduced John Schmidt from Florida at the Walker County Commission meeting. Schmidt will be the chief of the new department. The department will have a ladder truck, a brush truck and a vehicle for the chief. County Commission Chair Shannon Whitfield said at the meeting that completion of the Hinkle Fire Station is in the works. The plan is for the station to be completed by the end of the year.
Seven felony arrests were reported in Walker County on Monday. 36-year-old Bobby Allen Smith faces charges of possession of meth, DUI, obstruction and several traffic charges. You can view the entire arrest reports at DiscoverWalker.com.
LaFayette High School Soccer opened their season with a scrimmage last night against Ridgeland. The team is back in action tomorrow night at Trion. The home opener is February 16th vs. Darlington. The action begins at 5:30pm.
