Rossville Mayor Hal Gray has resigned as Police Chief for Walker County. Gray was appointed to the position in 2022. In a letter to Walker County, Gray says his role as Police Chief conflicts with his role as mayor. At Monday nights Rossville City Council meeting, residents and other officials call for Gray to resign as the Rossville Mayor. They claim that he’s already gone over his 2024 budget.

The rain in the forecast for today and tomorrow may help the drought condition in LaFayette. We are in a moderate drought currently. August of 2024 was the 6th driest August on record over the last 130 years. 2024 is the 35th driest year to date in the last 130 years. We are 4 inches of rainfall below normal.

This week’s Restaurant Health Inspection report shows all perfect scores in Walker County. Several schools were inspected. All got a 100. Naomi Elementary School, LaFayette High School, LaFayette Middle School, North LaFayette Elementary School and Fairyland Elementary School.

It’s Rec League Night at LaFayette High School. All the rec league players and coaches will be recognized before the Rambler face Trion tonight.
