Embattled Rossville Mayor Hal Gray announced his resignation last week. Friday was Gray’s last day on the job. Gray resigned as the Chief of Police for Walker County last week also. Vice Maylor Jonathan Lassetter is taking over as interim Mayor for the city. Several residents of Rossville had spoken out last week over concerns about Gray’s spending as the Rossville Mayor.
There were no felony arrests in Walker County yesterday. Three people were booked on felony charges on Saturday. 25-year-old Tylon Lee Gaines was arrested on felony charges of threats and unlawful conduct during a 911 call. 27-year-old Ansley Elizabeth Brown was arrested for DUI/Drugs and possession of meth. 38-year-old Robert Patrick Stephens was booked on possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime along with several motor vehicle charges.
The town of Lookout Mountain has started the process of developing a trail and pathway connectivity plan to link the Mountain Hall to Fairy Trail Garden, Carter Field, Fairyland Elementary School, Covenant College, the Sims Park and other points on the southern end of Lula Lake Road. The pathway committee, being chaired by Rhett Bentley with input from various groups on the mountain, will be working with Ragan Smith engineering to complete the plan prior to the end of 2025.
The Walker County Historic Preservation Commission will meet today. The meeting is set for 6pm at the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library
