All LaFayette city offices will be closed tomorrow and Friday. City offices will be open on Monday.
According to Triple-A, 55.4 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles between now and Sunday. Today is expected to be one of the heaviest travel days. The busiest day for the road way will be Sunday. Some good news for travelers, prices are coming down. Air plane tickets are down 14% from this time a year ago. Nationwide gas prices are down 37%
To accommodate the expected increase in traffic, Georgia DOT will suspend lanes closures on interstates, major state routes and roads near major shopping centers, malls, or districts beginning 5 a.m.today until 10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, with the aim of improving traffic flow. While construction-related lane closures will be suspended, travelers are encouraged to remain alert. Construction crews may still be working near highways, and certain long-term lane closures may be maintained for safety reasons.
LaFayette boys and girls basketball teams will return to the court next week. The Ramblers will travel to Hixson on Tuesday. Girls will play at 6. The boys will tip it off at 7:30pm.
