The Walker County Detention Center reported six felony arrests on Monday. 46-year-old Wayne Edward Ellinger was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence and false reporting of a crime. 26-year-old Halie Lakayla Young was booked on charges of tampering with evidence, trafficking illegal drugs, possession of a schedule II, controlled substance with intent to distribute. 39-year-old Bradley William Bowman faces charges of possession of a schedule I and II, possession of marijuana and possession of drug related objects.
A South Carolina man was sentenced to five years and 10 months in federal prison for mailing thousands of counterfeit pills containing fentanyl through the U.S. Postal Service to North Georgia.
43-year-old, Onesepherous L. Grissette, pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance, according to a news release from the Justice Department. Grissette will also serve 10 years of supervised release after his prison term. On July 22, postal investigators seized a shipment of pills addressed to a person who lived in Chickamauga, the statement said. The pills contained fentanyl but were made to look like the prescription drug oxycodone. Grissette mailed more than 4,500 counterfeit pills to the North Georgia individual for nearly two years in exchange for about $85,000, the statement said.
Pharmacy giant CVS has announced they will be cutting 2,900 employees. CVS wants to reduce costs by $2 billion. The cuts represent about 1% of the healthcare company’s workforce.
