It was a rough day for drivers yesterday locally.  Several wrecks were reported including many with injuries.  Law enforcement responded to a one car accident with injuries on Foster Mill Drive in LaFayette.  There was a wreck with severe injuries on 151 at Chapman Road.  At least one person was air lifted to the hospital.  There was a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 27 at Sloppy Floyd Lake Road in Chattooga County.  One vehicle was over turned in the crash and there were multiple injuries.
Walker County is looking to hire part time drivers for Walker Transit.  Pay starts at $14.20 per hour.  There is a pay increase for safe driving and training.  The hours are flexible and the job has the potential to turn into a full-time position.  If you’re interested, you can apply online at WalkerCountyGa.gov/jobs.
As the state of Georgia continues to recover from last week’s severe storms, Governor Brian Kemp has announced he’s suspending the gas tax.  The State of Emergency in Georgia has also been extended until October 9th.  The gas tax suspension went into effect today and will expire of the State of Emergency next Tuesday.
Last week’s storms have also hit Ingles grocery stores hard.  Ingles has locations in Trenton and Ringgold.  They are currently only accepting cash or check payments for groceries.  ingles is based in Asheville North Carolina.  Its distribution center is also located in western North Carolina was hit hard.  An Ingles employee told a North Carolina newspaper that the company’s headquarters was underwater.  The company is currently not able to handle credit card transactions in any of their 200 stores across the southeast.  The Ringgold and Trenton locations will accept cash or check only.
It’s Senior Night for LaFayette volleyball.  The Ramblers face Coosa at 5pm and Ringgold at 7pm.  Head out to Dan Priest Arena at LaFayette High School and cheer on the Ramblers.
