The Walker County Sheriff’s Office worked two bad accidents last night.  There was a 2-vehicle crash with injuries that happened at the intersection of Highway 193 and Highway 2 in Flintstone.  A second accident happened on Highway 151 at Highway 136.  A car and a transfer truck were involved in the crash.  The driver of the car was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extracted.  Details of the accidents and the extent of the injuries have yet to be released.
The Walker County Board of Education is holding a planning session today.  The session is set for 6pm on campus at Georgia Northwestern Technical College in Rock Spring.  The meeting will be held in the 500 building.  The regular school board meeting is set for October 21s.t
A Catoosa County teacher has been booked on charges of cruelty to children in the first degree.  Kimberly Shea Malone, a teacher at LFO turned herself in yesterday.  Malone’s attorney Tonya Craft calls the incident a rush to judgement.  According to a press release, the incident happened last Friday at the school when a student was attempting to leave the stadium during the day.  Malone stepped in to prevent the student from leaving.   Craft says Malone is being punished by the school system for doing her job and acting in the best interest of the student.  Malone has been placed on administrative leave.  The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office says that school administrators are cooperating with the investigation.
The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office is warning people of a scam in the area.  If you’re approached by people wanting to pave your driveway with asphalt that was left over from another job they did.  Police remind you to make sure of the company and the supervisor.  The sheriff’s office says to be sure to do your homework before contracting with anyone to do the work at your home or business.
