Early voting starts today in Walker County. You can vote at the Walker County Courthouse from now through November 1st. Early voting hours are from 8am to 5pm. Early voting will also be available on two Saturday’s this month. This Saturday, October 19th and again the following Saturday. Saturday voting hours are from 9am to 5pm. Early voting satellite location in Rock Spring, Rossville, Chickamauga and Fairyland will be open on Saturday October 26th. Check out our website for complete details on times and voting locations.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing juvenile. 17-year-old Jaden Billingsley went missing between the night of October 11th and the morning of October 12th. Billingsley was living in Rossville. She is not from Rossville and police say that she does not know her way around. Authorities say she may be headed to either Atlanta or Florida. Last month the LaFayette City Council unanimously voted to fund five pickleball courts. The money for the project is coming from SPLOST funds. The outdoor courts will be at the main rec center on South Main next to the tennis courts. The courts were paved last week. The project is expected to be completed by late January.

The Celebration of Life for Walker County Firefighter Christopher Lewis is set for today. Lewis passed away last week after being involved in a motorcycle accident in Alabama. The Celebration of Life is set for 4pm at the Walker County Civic Center in Rock Spring.

An update on a recent story about recalled meats sold to restaurants and food service vendors. The USDA now says the products processed by BrucePac were also sold in several large retail chains. The products were sold at various retailers including Wal-Mart, Target, Aldi and Trader Joe’s among others. The complete list of locations can be found on the USDA website. BrucePac last week recalled about 9.9 million pounds of ready to eat meat products.
