The Walker County Board of Education has their regularly scheduled meeting for tonight.  The meeting is set for 6pm at LaFayette High School.  The school board met in an executive session on Friday for two hours.  The meeting presumably centered around the future of the Superintendent Damon Raines.  The board on Friday did not take action on the unspecified personnel matter.  The superintendent has come under fire by some in the community for perceived transgressions within the school system.  The Board of Education extended Raines’ contract for 3 years this past summer.
An update on a story from last week.  Authorities have released the name of the individual involved in a head on collision on Wednesday night.  The accident happed on October 16th just after 11pm.  A wrong way driver in a Chevy truck was traveling north in the south bound lanes on Highway 27 when it hit a Toyota Carolla head on.  The accident happened just south of Old Lee School Road.  The pickup truck ended up engulfed in flames.  Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles. The Georgia Highway Patrol says 30-year-old Levi Brown of Menlo was killed in the crash.  The second person who died has not been identified yet.  The body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for identification.  The highway patrol continues to investigate the crash.
If you’re traveling on I-75 today or tomorrow, be aware.  GDOT crews will be resurfacing portion of I-75 in Whitfield County.  The left northbound lane will be closed today between 8:30am and 4pm.  The right northbound lane will be closed tomorrow between 8:30am and 4pm.
The latest restaurant inspection report shows a 100 for the Wendy’s in LaFayette.  The Little Ceasars in LaFayette received a 91.  Sonic in Rossville got a 92.
Congratulations are in order for the LaFayette High School Volleyball team.  The Ramblers are headed to the Elite 8 for the first time since 2021.  LaFayette defeated Oconee County to advance.  The Ramblers rallied from a 2-1 deficit to take a 5-set decision.
