Georgia Govenor Brian Kemp and legislative leader want to issue another round of income state rebates. The money comes from the state’s financial reserves that continue to rise. A proposal announced yesterday would give refunds of up to $250 to single filers, $375 to single adults who head a household and up to $500 to married couples who file jointly. Georgia issued similar rebates in 2022 and 2023. The rebates those years cost about $1.1 billion. Legislators would still have to approve the plan next year.
