Strong thunderstorms moved through the area early yesterday morning. The storms brought with it high winds. Several reports of trees down in Walker County yesterday. Crews worked to clear obstructed roadways. Thankfully there were no reports of injuries and power outages were minimal in the area and power was quickly restored. Whitfield and Catoosa County were not so lucky. Several reports of trees down and many were left without power.
A New Jersey man was arrested in Chattooga County on May 18th. A routine traffic stop uncovered 38 pounds of marijuana, several pounds of THC wax, other illegal drugs, $17,000 cash and a firearm. 55-year old Stephen Cox was arrested on several charges related to possession of and trafficking illegal drugs.
Jordan Christopher Seals was arrested Saturday night in Walker County. The sheriff’s office says Seals was found in possession of meth, an open container, driving on a suspended license, DUI, possession of marijuana and several other charges.
If your one of those who traveled over the Memorial Day weekend, you probably paid less for gas. According to Triple-A gas prices across Georgia averaged $3.36 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas. Locally Walker, Dade and Catoosa Counties have the cheapest gas prices in the state at $3.12. The national average is $3,59. That’s unchanged from the last week.
