The 4th of July is quickly approaching, if your looking for fireworks to enjoy, there are plenty around the area.
LaFayette will have their Freedom Festival June 30th at the Ross Abney Complex.  Fireworks will start around 10pm.
Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring will have their Freedom celebration July 2nd.  Activities start at 4.  Fireworks will begin at dark.
The City of Chickamauga will host their 1st ever 4th of July celebration on July 1st.  A concert starts at 9pm and will be followed by fireworks.
Lake Winnepesaukah will have fireworks July 2nd at 10pm.
In Ringgold fireworks are planned for The Collonade on July 1st.  Fireworks begin at 9:30.
Summerville has fireworks starting at 10pm on July 4th at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center.
The 1945 Fair will take place in Trenton on July 4th.  The fireworks there will start at 10pm.
Monday nights meeting to discuss the new connector trail from downtown Chickamauga to the Battlefield focused on safety.  Officials say the connector trail will connect people and the businesses of Chickamauga.  It will also help to make the streets safer.  They plan to make the trail an asset for both walking and biking.  If funding goes according to plan a possible opening date could be set in 2024.
The Georgia Department of Revenue said yesterday they are on track to have most of the surplus tax refund checks out by the end of the month.  According to the department, 2.75-million Georgia tax payers have received nearly $865.5 million.  Another $90-million is still left to be released in the coming days to those who qualified.  If you filed an extenstion on your taxes you won’t receive your check until you file your tax return.
