The Walker County Board of Commissioners will meet on Thursday of this week. The meeting takes places at 7pm at the Courthouse Annex III at 201 South Main Street. You can watch it on the county’s facebook page. On the agenda is the appointment of a member to the Lafayette-Walker County Library Board. Several other items are planned to be discussed this week.
The Lafayette Downtown Development is hosting a July concert series. It starts Friday night, July 14th at East Lawn in Lafayette. The Music begins at 7pm.
The Walker County Detention Center reported two felony arrests on Saturday. 52-year-old Byron Axle Baker and 53-year-old Kelley Tiane Gribble were booked on theft charges by possession of stolen mail.
A Saturday morning house fire in Walker County claimed the lives of two-family pets. Walker County Fire and Rescue Crews extinguished the fire in the 1700 block of North Cedar Lane in Flintstone. Firefighters say the blaze started in the basement where the residents have living quarters. The family’s dog and cat died in the fire. The blaze caused a lot of damage to the 1st floor as well. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
