The Walker County Sheriffs Department has welcomed two new deputies.  Deputy Sheriff Shelby Stephens and Deputy Sheriff Michael Sumner.  Both deputies graduated this week from GNTC’s Police Academy in Calhoun.
The Walker County Historic Preservation Commission will meet on Monday.  The meeting happens at 6 at the Lafayette-Walker County Public Library.  The public is invited.
There were five felony arrests in Walker County on Monday.  33-year-old Rebecca Lynn Webb and 28-year-old Joseph Cameron Deboard were both arrested on charges of possession of meth.
Friday evening of this week all 159 Georgia counties will take part in the annual state wide Bible Reading.  The event started in 2018 in Iowa.  It has spread across the country since.  Last year 24 states and 29 nations participated.  the Bible has been divided into 159 readings in Georgia and as each county reads it’s portion – the entire Bible will be read across the state in less than an hour.  The event happens Friday at 7:14pm at the Walker County Courthouse.  Naomi Baptist Church will lead the reading for Walker County.
