The Walker County Animal Shelter is overcrowded. The shelter is temporarily unable to take dogs or cats unless it’s an animal bite incident.
Walker County Kids Day is happening today. You can stop by Saddle Ridge Elementary School between 1pm and 6pm. Free health screenings, haircuts, backpacks, school supplies, lots of giveaways and more for the kids. Including inflatable and a petting zoo.
The Walker County Board of Commissioners meets on Thursday of this week. The meeting starts at 7pm and takes place at Courthouse Annex III at 201 South Main Street in LaFayette. Among the items on the agenda is the use and distribution of the proceeds generated by TSPLOST.
Gas prices are on the rise across the state of Georgia. Catoosa, Dade and Walker Counties still have the best gas prices in the state. The local average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $3.23. Statewide the average price of gas is $3.36 per gallon. That’s 9-cents more than last week. It now costs an average of $50.40 to fill up a 15-gallon tank.
