The Walker County Sheriff’s Office has issued a missing person alert.  15-year-old Andrea Rios walked away from her residence in Rossville.  Rios hasn’t been seen since approximately 9pm on Tuesday night.

A hot weather pattern is developing across the mid-south and southeast. Temperatures will soar heading into the weekend and are forecast to approach records late this weekend.  Temperatures with the Heat Index will hit triple digits.  The heat is forecast to only gradually subside heading into the middle of next week as high pressure slides away and a front approaches the region.  Stay cool and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest time of the day; roughly between 2 and 7 p.m. Drink plenty of water.

Ten of the 25 are in the South, but only one is in Georgia.  Berry College, near Rome, ranked No. 2 this year, behind Stanford University in California.  Berry has made the list of most beautiful campuses for more than a decade.

Georgia’s seaports had their second-busiest year in fiscal 2023 despite a decline in the volume of consumer goods moving across their docks as retailers with full inventories cut back their orders, officials said Tuesday.  The Georgia Ports Authority reported that the Port of Savannah handled 5.4 million container units of imports and exports in the fiscal year that ended June 30. That’s down 6.7% from a year ago, when the port scrambled to keep up with a record-breaking cargo surge.  it’s unclear how the Port of Savannah, the fourth-busiest U.S. port for cargo shipped in containers, will fare in fiscal 2024. Container volumes for June were down nearly 23%.
