Monday is Labor Day. All LaFayette City offices will be closed. Monday’s garbage route will be picked up on Tuesday.
Crosswalks have been added to Villanow Street and Patton Street. The crosswalks complete the southern portion of a multimodal greenway trail. The trail spanning from Indiana to Barwick is approximately one mile. The trail from East Villanow to South Main is approximately a ½ mile. Another portion of the trail along Indiana Street will be a sidewalk. The city is working to secure grant funding to complete the final portion. Once it’s complete the looped trail will be a little over three miles.
An update on a story from yesterday. The Georgia State Patrol arrested Larry Franklin Good Sunday afternoon in LaFayette. Good has a Chattanooga address. Good fled from state troopers Sunday afternoon while driving recklessly on a motorcycle while traveling at a high rate of speed. Good has been charged with felony fleeing, reckless driving and several other charges. The pursuit began near Round Pound Road and sped down many roads in Walker County before Good was apprehended.
A multi-vehicle crash in Chattooga County on Saturday took the life of a 42 year old Rome woman. The accident happened on Georgia 1. Two other vehicles were also damaged in the accident.
