An update on a story from yesterday. Walker County Authorities arrested 57-year-old Patricia Bryant and her 72-year-old husband Jerry on Wednesday. The couple has been charged with 2 county of misdemeanor animal cruelty along with misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement charges. All of the animals had been removed from the house by yesterday morning. The number of animals found stands at 177. 100 of those are dogs. The remains of 15 animals have been found, four of which were dogs. Authorities say that a number of the animals recovered are owned by other individuals. The animals have been taken to the Walker County Animal Shelter. The shelter will be closed until Monday. That will give staff time to contact their owners and work to move animals at the shelter no associated with the case to nearby shelters and rescues. The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded five contracts in July. The five total 11-million dollars for projects in northwest Georgia. Included is $2.26 million for bridge maintenance at four different locations in Floyd and Walker Counties. The repairs are expected to take until March of 2025 to complete.
The Dade County Sheriff’s Department assisted Dekalb County yesterday to apprehend a suspect. 22-year-old Justice Michael Reeves of Flat Rock Alabama had pulled a gun on a female and was believed to be armed. He fled from police on Sand Mountain and headed towards Trenton. Dade County authorities set up spike strips on Highway 136. The strips disabled the suspects vehicle and he took off on foot. Officers took Reeves into custody about 100 yards from Dade Middle School. Reeve faces several charges in Alabama as well as felony evading in Dade County.
