The Honeybee Festival was another success in downtown LaFayette this past week.  Up next is the Freedom Festival.  That’s set for June 28th.  Celebrate the 4th of July the Friday before with fun and games starting at 5pm.  Fireworks begin at 10pm.  That’s all happening June 28th at the Ross Abney Complex.
Folks on their best behavior during the Honeybee Festival. Only five arrests for the entire 24-hour period of Saturday.  Only one felony arrests.  29-year-old Michael Tyler Kimbrel was charged with two counts of felony obstruction of law enforcement, two counts of simple battery and 1st degree cruelty to children.
The Walker County Board of Commissioners will hold a budget work session today.  The work sessions begins at 9am at the Walker County Civic Center.  All county departments are scheduled to present during the session.  Among those presenting in the morning, the district attorney’s office, animal services and probate court.  After a lunch break, the commission will hear from the sheriff, the public library, public works, 911 and the fire and rescue department.  The public is invited to attend.
The 26th Annual Tennessee-Georgia All Star Softball Classic is set for Tuesday June 11th.  The games will be played at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga.  The game features recent graduates from Tennessee and Georgia squaring off against each other.  The Georgia squad is coached by LaFayette’s Meagan Base.  Among those on the 19-player roster for Georgia include LaFayette outfielder Jaselyn Couch and third baseman Suki Williams.  Every player on both teams will play softball at the next level.
