The Walker County Animal Control and the Shelter Team assisted the City of LaFayette Police Department with a hoarding case recently. The move resulted in 93 animals being impounded. 83 are cats. Due to the health and the temperament of the cats as well as the shelters capacity – the Walker County Animal Shelter is requesting immediate rescue assistance. The shelter also needs immediate rescue assistance with the dogs that have some from this situation. The Walker County Sheriff’s Department was involved in a high speed chase with a motorcyclist last night. The chase started around Wilson Road and headed northbound across the state line into Tennessee. The motorcyclist crashed after crossing into Hamilton County. No further details on the incident are available at this time.

The monthly meeting of the Walker County Historic Preservation will be held on Monday. The meeting starts at 6 at the LaFayette Walker County Public Library. The Public is invited to attend.

Lafayette baseball is back in action at home tomorrow night against Ringgold. First pitch is set for 6pm.

Lafayette Boys and Girls golf both finished fourth in the Fields Ferry Invitational at Calhoun this week. On the boys side Senior Grant Langford led the way with an even par 72. The Lady Ramblers were also led by a Senior. Abby Keys shot a season low 95. Both the boys and the girls will be back in action on Saturday. They will compete in the Heritage Five Star Invitational.
