Walker County authorities responded to a two vehicle crash with injuries yesterday afternoon. The accident happened at 136 and Gordon Pond Road in LaFayette. Details of the accident have not been released.
Walker County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a high speed chase with a motorcycle over the weekend. The pursuit involved speeds of over 100 miles per hour. The motocycle eventually crashed on Highway 151. Police arrested 25 year old Alex Tyler Wallin. Wallin faces multiple charges including a second charge of driving on a suspended license, improper left turn, reckless driving, attempting to elude police along with other charges. This is the second arrest for Wallin in recent weeks. He was arrested April 14th along with his mother. Wallin was stopped for driving with no rear tail lights and then became belligerent with officers.
It’s been 20-years since Ray Brent Marsh was arrested and convicted for having dead bodies scattered around his crematory business. Last week Marsh was denied early termination of his probation. Marsh will be up for termination review again in three years.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed a new law on Friday that establishes a cold case unit within the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The legislation provides $5.4 million to create the unit. It also requires law enforcement across the state to provide an accurate count of unsolved homicide cases to the bureua and to allow families to receive timely death certificates in these cases.
