Walker County Tax Assessor Terry Gilreath told the county commission last week that property values in the county are up 30-percent.  Tax notices will go out soon informing owners of their latest property values.  Once the assessments are received, owners will have until June 29th to appeal.
A check of Saturday nights arrest repot shows two felony arrests.  23 year old Jon Quincy Charles Greer faces charges of DUI, driving without a license, expired license plate and felony terroristic threats.  49 year old Michael Allen Bollinger was booked on battery, terroristic threats and cruelty to children charges.  You can find the complete arrest report on our website, DiscoverWalker.com
The monthly meeting of the Walker County Historic Preservation Commission is set for today.  The meeting will be at six this evening at the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library on South Duke Street in LaFayette.  Among the topics on the agenda for today – a status report on the renovations to the court house.
Don’t expect to see a lot of Georgia peaches in the grocery store this summer.  Mother Nature hurt peach crops this year in Central Georgia.  Not enough chilly weather in December, a warm February and frost in March hurt this years crop.
