A 75-year-old man is in the Walker County jail. Dennis Laman is being held without bond. Laman was arrested June 2nd and faces charges ranging from sexual battery to exploitation and intimidation of disabled adults. Officials say the incidents have occurred over the last two-to-five years.
Walker County has been awarded the 2023 Georgia County Excellence Award. The honor is given by ACCG, the state’s county association. Walker Couty won the award for it’s partnership with the Walker County African American Historical and Alumni Association. That partnership led to the creation of the African American Museum and Memorial Park.
The District Attorney’s Office is hiring. The position is a grant funded Victim Witness Advocate. The position provides support to victim of crimes. including crime victims’ compensation assistance, restitution assistance, notification services and court accompaniment among other duties.
