According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, April 2023 was the 35th wettest April on record for LaFayette in the last 129 years. In April, LaFayette saw more than one-point-one inch of rainfall above normal. Since January of this year, rainfall is six-tenths of an inch above normal. The Walker County Detention Center reported 12 felony arrests on Wednesday. 58-year-old William Preston Teems and 52-year-old Kenneth Eugene Bankston were both booked on possession of meth charges. 49-year-old Cornell Lamont Knowles has been charged with possession of cocaine, meth and a schedule II all with the intent to distribute.
It’s been four months since an assisted living facility in Rossville announced it was closing. According to News Channel 9 in Chattanooga, several employees of Martha and Mary’s Personal Care say they still haven’t been paid. The former employees say the are considering hiring an attorney in an attempt to get their past wages.
