Alice Pettigrew

Alice Pearl Pettigrew, age 88, of LaFayette, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

She was a member of Chattooga Baptist Church. Alice began her career as a beautician before dedicating herself to the Walker County School System, where she worked in food service and retired after 33 years of faithful service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Bill Dearing and Lemous Elizabeth Dearing; brothers, Jimmie Ray Dearing, Bobby Joe Dearing, Billy John Dearing, and Jerry Allen Dearing; and sister, Linda Coker.

Alice is survived by her loving husband, James N. Pettigrew; sons, Kevin (Dawn) Pettigrew, Brent (Tonia) Pettigrew, and Jason Pettigrew; grandchildren, Megan Pettigrew, Kayla Sharp, Laurabeth Pettigrew, Madison Pettigrew, Levi Pettigrew, Allie Pettigrew, Caroline Knox, Drew Pettigrew, and Aaron Pettigrew; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Dr. William Swanson and Chaplain Ronnie Chandler officiating.

Interment will take place at the LaFayette City Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Levi Pettigrew, Ryan Matthews, Joel Coker, John Dearing, Drew Pettigrew, and Aaron Pettigrew.

Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Foster, Roger Avans, Malcolm Pickard, Julian Coker, Mack Pettigrew, and Steve Wilson.

Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Pruitt Hospice for their support and care.
