Bethany Faith West

Bethany Faith West, age 21, of LaFayette, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026. She is survived by her mother, Heather West; her sister, Alyvia “Liv” West; her Nanna, Cynthia Mikesell; and her father, John West. She is also survived by her aunts and uncle, Renee and Russell Proctor, and Michelle Badillo. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Allen Pike and Benjamin Thigpen.

Bethany was a loving, caring, compassionate, and giving child. Oh, how she loved her dog, Watson, whom we rescued from the animal shelter. She loved to tell people her story of being a heart transplant recipient and how she had been blessed with her heart in 2019. She would document different things about it.

One thing I would love for people to know is that she lived and fought a hard, courageous battle. She loved to make people laugh and feel good about themselves. She was the most selfless person I have ever known, and I am so honored to say that I was her mom and she was my daughter. I know that, as giving as she was, if everyone were like that, what a blessing it would be.

Oh, how she loved her sister Alyvia and would continuously pick at her and take her on adventures. She loved being a big sister, even if Liv would get on her nerves. They were true siblings, bickering back and forth. Bethany loved hard and fought just as hard to be here. She loved her Nanna like a second mother. Those two were always getting into something.

In conclusion, I know I haven't spoken of everyone she so deeply loved—and you know who you are. I will always be grateful to everyone who loved her.

She would also want me to add that everyone needs to be an organ donor because she wouldn't have lived as long as she did without one. We were given seven extra years that we otherwise would not have had.
