Betty Jo Jones

Betty Jo Jones, age 83, resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, born August 27, 1942 in Chattanooga, passed away at Common Spirit Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
Ms. Jones graduated from Kirkman High School in 1960 and attended beauty school after graduation. She began working at Chattanooga Bakery and then began operating a beauty shop at her home, where she faithfully served numerous people of the Chattanooga area for over 10 years. Later, she worked at Unity Christian School; Choo Choo Customs; Polaris Cycles; Southern Honda Cycles; and was working at Dealer Auto Auctions for the past 15 years.
Ms. Jones enjoyed going to Night Fall festivals and riding motorcycles. She also bowled in a league for over 10 years and volunteered at Riverbend. While at home, many would find her on her computer or listening to classic country music. The family remembers her as a lady who enjoyed her different stages of life – including her iconic purple hair.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine Maryland Cole; one sister, Shelia Fowler; and one brother, Billy Gene Cole.
Ms. Jones is survived by her significant other, Robert Taylor; three daughters, Jennifer (David) Hill, Jawana Templeton, and Jabrina (Jonathan) Willard; five grandchildren, Amber (Eric) Plemmons, Billy Templeton, Gracie Willard, Sammy Willard, and Amy Willard; two great-grandchildren, Dakota Plemmons and Sylas Plemmons; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 12 p.m. till 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
