Catherine “Cat” Stone, age 79, resident of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, passed away on November 30, 2024 at Erlanger Hospital, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mrs. Stone, daughter of the late Ivor Dee Yates and Mable Irene Boatman Yates, was born October 30, 1945 in Fort Payne, Alabama. She was retired from Pruitt Nursing Home where she faithfully worked for over 30 years before she retired. Mrs. Stone was a member of Bible Way Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, particularly taking care of her flowers. Mrs. Stone enjoyed fishing and going to the drag strip with her sons. And when at home, family and friends would see her watching old classics and soap operas on television. However, one of her biggest passions was spending time at Golden Coral with her friends. The family remembers her as a lady who cared and loved everyone.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Stone; son, Greg Yates; and sister, Carolyn Gray Ivester.
Mrs. Stone is survived by two sons, John “JC” Hackney and Jason “Hack” Hackney; step-son, Scott Stone; sister, Mary (Fred) Hollingsworth; brother, Travis Yates; four grandchildren, James “Cole” Hackney, Mollie Martin, Ethan Stone, and Kailen Stone; many other relatives and friends.
