Our beloved mother and grandmother, Cathy McGaha Hixon, born in LaFayette, GA to parents Russell and Frances McGaha on March 4, 1956, passed on January 1, 2025, after a short illness. She was 68.
Cathy was the heart and foundation of our family. Cathy is survived in death by her husband of 35 years, Fred, her children Jamie Waller and her husband Jonathan Waller, and Kevin Crane and his wife Ashley Crane, her mother Frances Thompson, and sister Pennie Callahan. As a grandmother to Jacob, Joshua, Adalyn and Presleigh, she was “Gammy” and she loved to spend time with them. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye.
Cathy was a 1974 graduate of LaFayette High School. She attended Northwest Technical College earning her real estate license. Cathy then went on to become top producer of sales many times and ended her career with Berkshire Hathaway.
Cathy was known for her kind heart and her love of the Lord. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and her real estate customers for over 20 years. At Cathy's request, she will be cremated.
There will be a memorial service held for her at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, 121 W. Villanow St, LaFayette, GA on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 3 p.m. with a gathering of family and friends from 1 p.m. to the hour of service.
We are saddened at her sudden passing, but we know when she took her last earthly breath, she opened her eyes standing at the gates of heaven with her loved ones waiting to usher her inside. She would tell us that all she needed was a shack when she got to heaven, but if you knew her, you know she was shown to her mansion and will spend eternity worshiping at the feet of Jesus.
