Charles Lebron “Pop” Chandler departed from this life Tuesday, April 28, 2026. He was surrounded by his family. He left a legacy of faith and love that will sustain us until the day we shall be with him in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
Pop was saved by our lord Jesus Christ at age of sixteen and was a lifelong member of the Church of God of Prophecy for 77 years and faithfully attended, Plainville COGOP (The Bend). He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He had a special love for collecting antique clocks and a talent for their restoration. He retired after forty years’ service in the textile industry.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Jimmie Rhinehart Chandler; mother, Sarah Chandler; father, Rev. Ruben Chandler; sisters, Lola Cantrell and Ruby Carroll; daughter-in-law, Robin Jackson Chandler; and son-in-law,
Columbus Sexton.
He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Kathy Chandler Sexton; sons, Greg Chandler, Randy (Melody) Chandler, and Ronnie (Brenda) Chandler; grandchildren, Kim Chandler Coy “Corey” Hefner, C.B. (Tammy) Chandler, Iris Chandler, Briley Chandler, Isaac Kirkland (Katlin Henry); great grandchildren, Lincoln Hefner, Rowan Hefner, Brandon Chandler, Josh Chandler, Peyton Chandler, Scarlett Kirkland and Weston Kirkland; and his four-legged friend, Harley “2-ears” Chandler.
Visitation will be Friday, May 1, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wallis-Wilbanks funeral home in Lafayette, Georgia. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with his Pastor Ronnie Chandler and C.B.
Chandler officiating. Interment will be in the LaFayette City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Brandon Chandler, Lincoln Hefner, Josh Chandler, Peyton Chandler, Issac Kirkland, Coy Hefner, and Greg Chandler. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Naughton and the men of Plainville COGOP “The Bend”.
