David Roosevelt Turner

David Roosevelt Turner, age 91, resident of Rossville, Georgia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at his oldest son’s residence.
Mr. Turner, son of the late Allen Eugene Turner and Edith Walker Turner, was born September 27, 1934 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was an active member of Lighthouse of the Word Church, Rossville, Georgia. Mr. Turner worked for many different companies to include Hunter Museum; Lake Winnie; Roxbury Carpet Mill; Gray Cab Company; Ernest Holmes Wrecker Co.; Gulf Gas Station in Chattanooga; and A&B Recycling. He enjoyed working at flea markets; playing softball in the church league; roller skating; and bowling at the Fort Lanes Bowling Alley. While at home, many would find him watching Atlanta Braves baseball or classic western movies/shows. He also listened to Southern Gospel music and worked both crossword puzzles and word puzzles. The family remembers him as a Godly man, good husband, father, and grandfather.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Funderburk and Thelma Oliver; eldest brother, Gene Turner; and son-in-law, Gary Watkins.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife of over 71 years, Hazel “Nanny” Turner; one daughter, Sharon Turner Watkins; two sons, Rick (Kim) Turner and Mark (Marilyn) Turner; one sister, Peggy (Morris) Bandy; six grandchildren, Stephen (Jessica) Turner, Michelle Hoffman, Stephanie (Ryan) Fleming, Michael McGill, Tiffany Thennes, and Zach Turner; 13 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends, including Bro. Mike Lowery his best friend.
Funeral services will be held at Lighthouse of the Word Church, 920 Carline Road, Rossville, Georgia on Saturday, August 15, 2026, 12 p.m. with Reverend Mike Lowery officiating. The family will receive friends at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, August 14,2026 from 12 noon till 8 p.m. Interment with military honors will be on Monday, August 17,2026 at 11 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
