Dennis “Poppy” Patrick McMillen, age 83, of Ooltewah, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026. Though he moved throughout the country for many years, Poppy was a long time resident of North Georgia and the Chattanooga area. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and was sure to watch their games on tv. Above all else, Poppy loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Poppy is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Thomas McMillen and Beryl Gwendolyn Hulbert McMillen; three sisters, Shirly, Vivian, Donna; four brothers, Bob, Ray, Jerry, and Richard.
He is survived by his children, Adam (Cecelia) Gravitt and Gwen (Jeff) McCorkle; his lifelong best friend, Sheila Craig; daughter-in-law, Davala “Dee”; grandchildren, Nicholas (Jeida), Terra, Jennifer (Corey), Cody, Brittany (Sean), Patrick (Paige) and Sophie; great grandchildren, Annabell, Ryland, James, Patrick, Johnathan, Myles, Maya, Paxton, Josephine and Scarlett, as well as several other grandchildren that have joined the family throughout the years.
