Doyle Richard Pickard, age 87, passed away on December 14, 2024. He was born on December 28, 1936, in LaFayette, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Elwood Pickard and Maggie Ruth Green Pickard, brothers, Hershel Pickard and Clayton Pickard and sisters, Ila Dean Pickard Clark and Charline (Cheryl) Pickard Cagle.
Mr. Pickard is survived by his wife, JoAnn Smith Pickard, brother Russell Pickard, sister Montyne (Alvin) Mullis and sons Malcolm (Polly) Pickard, Mark Pickard, and Matthew Pickard. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pickard was a veteran of the United States Army and was a truck driver for over forty years.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Wallin and Pastor Ricky Clark officiating. Interment to follow in the City of LaFayette Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Jason Pickard, Shawn Pickard, Greg Pickard, Shane Pickard, T J Pickard, Forrest Pickard, Kenny Clark and Rodney Dale Clark.
Honorary Pallbearers are former truck drivers of E. T. Barwick Corporation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
