It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved father, brother, uncle, friend, and respected member of the local community, Eddie Broome, age 70, of LaFayette, GA, who passed away on October 3, 2024.
Eddie was born and raised in LaFayette, GA, where he graduated from LaFayette High School, Class of 1972. He was a cherished part of the community, known for his unconditional love, kindness, humor, and wisdom. Even in his passing, he remains a beloved presence, with a reserved table at every local restaurant in town.
Eddie’s spirit was unique and vibrant. He was the epitome of an old soul, always sharing his vast knowledge and nurturing a love for the strange and mysterious—whether it was birds, bats, organic gardening, or the supernatural. He was someone you couldn’t help but love once you knew him.
Eddie is survived by his son, Jacob Broome; his brothers, Rodney Broome and Curtis Broome (Debbie Broome); his sister, Karen Broome; his uncle, Bobby Broome, his niece, Angel Kendrick; his nephews, Shannon Broome, Brandon Broome (Christina Broome), Sean Broome, Ethan Broome (Courtney Broome), and Zach Chandler; great nephews, Brysen Sosebee, Jase Kendrick and Lane Broome; great niece, Hadleigh Broome; and several great nieces and relatives also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, significant other and mother to his beloved son, Rhonda Kaye Broome, Carl and Norma Broome; his maternal grandparents, Emma Ethridge and Roy Stewart; and his paternal grandparents, Earl Broome and Maryel Broome.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours at Wallis & Wilbanks Funeral Home on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
