Evelyn Gladys White Dodd, age 98, of LaFayette, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
She was born in Rome, Georgia, to the late Claude White and Gladys Johnston White. A devoted woman of faith, she faithfully served for many years as secretary of First Baptist Church in Acworth, Georgia, where she touched countless lives through her kindness and dedication. She was also a cherished member of Second Baptist Church in LaFayette, finding great joy in her church family and community.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Dodd; siblings, Patricia Hampton, Tommy White, Jimmie Nell Baker, Dorothy Howell, Martha Faye Martin, and Jane Doss.
She is survived by her daughters, Claudia (Bill) Clackum and Linda Sewell; son, Morrell (Judy) Dodd Jr.; grandchildren, Nathan (Amy) Clackum, Hollie (Hadi) Seyfi, Delia Sewell, Allie Sewell, Crystal Rogers, Amy (Todd) Simmons, and Ryan (Courtney) Dodd; great grandchildren, Hannah Clackum, Fox Seyfi, Aidan Sewell, Sophie Sewell, Britney Roberts, Brenan Moore, Brooke Moore, Steely Dodd, and Sadie Dodd; sisters, Sue Bradley and Mary Grace Meeks; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, at the Second Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be private at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
