Fay Lavaun Wood Peters age 87, of Ringgold, Georgia passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024. She was born in Camden-on-Gauley, West Virginia to the late Newt and Lela Givens Wood. Fay was a former resident of Blissfield, Michigan, since 1972 she has been a resident of Rossville and for the past two years residing in Ringgold, Georgia. Fay was a registered nurse and retired from Tri-County Hospital/Hutcheson Medical Center after twenty-six years of service. After her retirement, she remained in healthcare where she worked as the Admissions Director at Fort Oglethorpe Nursing Home. She was a very active and dedicated Christian, serving at Fairview and Boynton United Methodist Churches. She served through the United Methodist Women and the United Methodist Church on Relief for many years. She was a current member of Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church in Chickamauga, Georgia. Fay also had worked for many years at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Homes, where she served as hostess on the tour bus alongside of her husband: Jim, driving the bus. They enjoyed traveling and taking many trips together. Fay was very spry and enjoyed serving her church, her patients, her community, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by eight siblings, and her husband: James “Jim” Hall Peters. She is survived by her sons: Doug (Michele) Peters of Chattanooga, TN, Mark (Deborah) Peters of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, grandchildren: Ben (Lisa) Peters, Zack (Kristen) Peters, Heather (Carl) Scott of Hixson, TN, Lauren Peters, Rachel Peters, Caylie Peters, great-grandchildren: Camden, Ava, Maverick, Ariel, Romeo, Emi, Victoria, Graham, Jude, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am – Saturday – October 19, 2024 in the chapel with Pastor: Zach Fitzpatrick officiating. Entombment will follow in Calvary Gardens Mausoleum – Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
