George Herman Harvey, 91, of Cleveland, formerly of Rossville, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at a local healthcare facility.
George retired from Norfolk Southern Railway with over 30 years of dedicated service. He was a proud United States Army veteran who served during the Korean War. George was a longtime member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for over 40 years and attended Newnan Springs United Methodist Church. Prior to entering the United States Army, he attended Rossville High School.
George had a special love for animals and was always caring for stray animals, making sure they were fed and looked after. His kindness and gentle heart toward both people and animals will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Frances Harvey; daughter, Sandra Darlene Stewart; parents, William F. and Carrie L. Harvey; four brothers, Bud, Paul, John, and Leon Harvey; and two sisters, Mary Sue Arp and Louise “Midge” Hise.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Lewis of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Mary Bruyette of Chickamauga; three grandchildren, Debbie Rosenbloom, Mike Watkins, and Lowell Poteet; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Sara Rosenbloom; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:00a.m. at TN-GA Memorial Park.
